Current Information:Born-Mortlake Enlisted-Kingston Guards Cemetery, Windy Corner, Cuinchy, France Between 10th December and 13th December, 1915, 7th East Surrey of 37 Brigade, 12th Division were in the front line at Givenchy near La Bassée in France. The positions held by 7th East Surrey were known as “The Warren” and “The Marches” and the battalion HQ was at “Windy Corner”. This sector at the time was considered a quiet one but the enemy was fairly active with machine gun fire and perhaps it was this that killed Private Voller on 11th December, 1915. |
